I’ve made some more progress on my latest painting. I’m in the home stretch on this one. At 10″ wide by 20″ high, this is a large size given all the detail work (and that yet to be done!). It’s coming along slowly but surely. This is a close-up of one of the pelicans I recently finished. I’ll be revealing the entire finished piece soon.
I’ve just added a new painting to my In Our Veins series. The title is Adpectus, which is Latin for vision, and it is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ wide by 4″ high. This piece continues with the theme of organs on the outside of the body as a reminder of our shared biology. It was featured in my April newsletter that went out yesterday, so it is already on its way to its new home in Israel. View the painting online here: https://amyguidry.com/adspectus.html.
On another note, there is a current special offer on Life Force. This piece is originally $200 and is now $150. It is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ wide by 4″ high. This offer expires May 14, 2017 (Mother’s Day). View the painting online here: https://amyguidry.com/life-force.html and mention this offer.
I’m happy to be able to announce that an interview I did with The Advocate is out now. Patricia Gannon wrote the feature discussing my current series, In Our Veins, and the message behind it. I’m going to quote myself right now, but I think it’s an important point to get across: “We’re capable of destruction but also absolutely amazing things. We can live in harmony in a responsible manner.” I create these paintings to provide a visual of what is going on with our planet, as well as what could be, as a reminder that we are all connected and should all do our part to preserve nature. I’m happy to announce that my painting, Exposed, is featured on the cover of the latest issue of VEGAN Magazine out of the Netherlands. In addition, there is an interview featured along with more of my paintings inside. I’ve included images for those that can read Dutch.
I’ve added two new small paintings to the In Our Veins series. One was previously posted in progress. Both were featured in my recent newsletter and have each found new homes in Louisiana and Florida. Spiritus, which is Latin for breath, continues with the theme of organs on the outside of the body as a reminder of our shared biology. It is an acrylic on canvas, 4” wide by 4” high. Perception, also an acrylic on canvas, refers to our understanding of nature and recognition of all sentient beings. View each of them here: https://amyguidry.com/spiritus.html and here: https://amyguidry.com/perception.html.
Another painting in progress. Forced to take a break from my larger pelican painting courtesy of my easel. It decided to break (while in the middle of painting), so I am currently waiting on the replacement part to come in. So in the meantime, I decided to work on a small painting I’ve been wanting to do anyway. This piece is in keeping with my Cor and Corporis paintings, featuring rabbits with exposed organs or bones as a reminder that animals are all living, sentient beings. It is an acrylic on canvas, 4″ by 4.”
A few photos of my current painting in progress. I have not decided on a title yet, but can say that it is an acrylic on canvas, 10″ wide by 20″ high. These are a few shots of the beginning stages taking it from a sketch on paper to the first few layers of paint, focusing on the sky.
I’ve recently finished two new paintings in my In Our Veins series. Encroach is an acrylic on canvas, 6″ by 6.” It serves as a subtle commentary on human intervention in nature while illustrating the connection of the natural world to all life. Reciprocal is the latest addition to the smaller series of paintings within In Our Veins. It is also an acrylic on canvas, 4″ by 4.” Reciprocal conveys the connection to nature by linking flora and fauna and uses the ribbon to continue the recent theme exploring anonymity versus connection.
