I had an exhibition opportunity pop up recently to be part of a 5-person show. The exhibition is called “The August Five” and is currently showing at Gallery 549 in downtown Lafayette, Louisiana. Several of my New Realm paintings are featured as well as the works of Ange Riehl, Michelle Fontenot, Jennifer Whitten, and Cayla Zeek. I’ll be posting photos from the opening reception soon, in the meantime, check out the exhibit now through September 6th.
I am happy to announce that I was recently selected as one of the artists for the upcoming “North/South” exhibit at Robert Lange Studios in Charleston, South Carolina. The exhibit will feature two paintings by each artist depicting the North and South. The opening reception will be held November 1st from 5-8pm and the show will remain up through the month. I recently posted my latest work in progress. Since doing the basic sketch on canvas, I’ve added a rough first layer of paint and then moved on to the background and some of the animals. The deer is currently in progress and I will move on to the remaining animals next. It is an acrylic on canvas, 10″ wide by 20″ high. I’ve recently begun a new painting in my In Our Veins series. As featured here I start with a rough sketch on canvas to work out the positioning and basic outline of the subject(s) before moving on to the first layer of paint. I’ve just finished two new paintings in my In Our Veins series. The first is titled Connections and is a 6″ x 6″ acrylic on canvas. The second is titled Bound and is 6″ wide by 4″ high, also acrylic on canvas. While both are different in content, the basis behind each painting is very similar. Both illustrate the connection between all species, whether plants or animals, including humans and serve as a reminder of the significance of such a relationship. The title pertains to the cycle of life and how our actions of the both the past and present affect our future environment.
