While doing some recent genealogy work, I discovered that my distant cousin is the artist Eleanor Norcross. Eleanor (1854-1923) was an accomplished American painter and spent most of her life in Paris. She was affiliated with Mary Cassatt, and exhibited in Paris almost annually from 1866 until her death. She also exhibited in the United States in New York City, Boston, and Chicago. An exhibition of her works will be held this November at the museum she founded- the Fitchburg Museum of Art in Fitchburg, MA. Read more about Eleanor here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eleanor_Norcross.
