Excited to share my newly finished painting Tendril. This piece features an orchid mantis, something I’ve been wanting to paint for awhile. The orchid mantis is a rainforest-dwelling mantis of Southeast Asia and one of several pieces of flower mantises. Tendril is an acrylic on canvas, 5″ wide by 5″ high. Also featured is a luna moth, which gravitate towards light in the darkness of night and are therefore seen as a symbol of transformation and striving towards truth. Krause Gallery in New York is currently having an online charity art exhibition benefiting the elderly. My painting Consciousness is included and 10% of the sale of this piece goes to Meals on Wheels. Consciousness is an acrylic on canvas, 12″ wide by 6″ high. The connected lotus flower and polar bear refer to the connection of all of nature. The lotus flower is a symbol of purity, enlightenment, self-regeneration and rebirth. Sharing my latest finished painting Fragile. It should be noted that artistic liberties were taken with this piece as (aside from the obvious abdomen) this spider doesn’t actually exist. I came up with her after looking at several references. The decorative porcelain abdomen serves to highlight the beauty and fragility of these small creatures which have an important role in our ecosystem.
